Tempest AA48111 Spin-EZ Oil Filter
What’s Tempest’s recommendation for dealing with stuck oil filters? At your next filter change - UPGRADE to Tempest’s patent-pending “non-sticking” SPIN EZ™ aircraft engine oil filters. Tempest’s SPIN EZ filters are designed to come off easy. Heat, time and pressure can extrude oil, grease, DC4® compound or similar liquid lubricants from between a filter’s rubber seal and the filter mount pad - leaving the filter seemingly “bonded” to the engine’s mount pad - and making it nearly impossible to remove. Tempest’s proprietary SPIN EZ adhered solid seal lubricant stays where it’s supposed to - between the seal and the mount pad’s surface. SPIN EZ solid lubricant won’t extrude or squirt out from under the seal. It prevents the bond forming environment that makes legacy filters stick. Avoid frustration. Save time and money. No more messy DC-4 compound. No more stabbed cans. At your next filter change, UPGRADE to state-of-the-art Tempest SPIN EZ oil filters - the filter that comes off without a fight! Note: The Tempest® SPIN EZ® spin-on oil filters’ FAA approved design previously included an optional magnetic inspection aid for maintenance personnel which is capable of attracting fine steel particles to assist with detecting ferrous material during post oil-change filter inspection. Unfortunately, due to supply chain disruptions, Tempest is no longer able to procure this proprietary magnet and that feature will no longer be available. All other components and filtration quality you trust from Tempest® SPIN EZ® spin-on oil filters remain unchanged. |

TEMPEST AA48111 OIL FILTER
Piper Warrior Spruce sends to my mechanic every year for the annual. Quick turnaround, good product, gets me back in the air fast. Thanks Aircraft Spruce!
Usually get my filters from Spruce. Noticed that the last filters were dry lube and some were older stock that were not. Not a big deal...I usually wipe the dry lube off and apply DC4 anyways. The first dry lube filter I used in April weeped.
As described promptly shipped
Works great on the Lycoming IO360 on my RV-8.

The recommended replacement filter for the O360-A4M is the Tempest AA48110-2 S/O Oil Filter (08-01270). This is a general recommendation and we cannot gaurantee that it is correct for each aircraft. We recommend that customers verify their own currently installled filter before placing the order.
S/O stands for "Spin On" as they are spin on type filters. The recommended filter for a Lycomin IO-360 is the AA48110-2. This is a general recommendation and we cannot gaurantee that it is correct for each aircraft. We recommend that customers verify their own currently installed filter before placing the order.
The recommended filter for a Lycoming IO-360-L2A is the AA48110-2. This is a general recommendation and we cannot guarantee that it is correct for each aircraft. We recommend that customers verify their own currently installed filter before placing the order. There is no difference in fit or application between the Champion CH48110-1 and the AA48110-2. The only difference is the brand name and the technology in the filter.
The correct Tempest oil filter for 08-00631 (ENG MOUNT OIL FLTR TAF-L) would be 08-01268 (TEMPEST AA48108-2 OIL FILTER).
Thank you for bringing this oversight to our attention. We have since added a link to the web page under the "Application Guide" tab. Please click to the link to find the Tempest Oil Filter application guide in PDF format.
Per Tempest: Yes, it does have the internal bypass capability.
Per the previous Q+A reply: The recommended filter for a Lycoming IO-360 is the AA48110-2. This is a general recommendation and we cannot guarantee that it is correct for each aircraft due to aftermarket modifications, etc which are unknown to us.
The Tempest filter AA48108-2 has female threads, and the AA48110-2 has a male threaded stud to attach it to the engine. The AA48108-2 is commonly used on Continental engines, but you may want to contact your re-builder to see if an adapter of some sort was installed to use the AA4108-2.
The Tempest AA48108-2 is the replacement for a Champion CH48108-1 and is approx 3/16" shorter than the Champion filter.
The difference is AA48108-2 has a female thread and the AA48110-2 has a male thread.
